| The Ecuadorian coast is the most populated area of the country. In this region grows the majority of the agricultural production from Ecuador, such as bananas, shrimps, coffee, cocoa, rice, among others. This region has beautiful beaches and has a length of 1000 km (600 miles) approximately. The shore meets the Pacific Ocean waters and due to this, many small villages have settled down. Their main activity is fishing and mostly local tourism. There are important ports in the main cities of Guayaquil and Manta, from where Ecuador receives all goods coming from other countries of the world. Due to the wonders of this area, there are some protected extensions of the Pacific coast, where you can find the tallest mangroves in the world or pristine beaches, very good places for snorkeling in a vast area of corals and some colorful fish schools. Some of the fauna found on Isla de la Plata is similar to the one found in the Galapagos Islands. |
